The Best Things Come in Small Packages
Elliot proves that immeasurable strength can often be found in the smallest of bodies. Elliot came to Children’s Hospital Boston and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute last fall and was found to have acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). This disease is particularly rare in children under one-year of age. Moreover, infant ALL can be a more dangerous disease, requiring more intensive chemotherapy. Elliot and his parents endured a 104-day stay in the hospital following his diagnosis. He has completed the three of the four most intensive cycles of his chemotherapy treatment, has done hand-to-hand combat with bronchiolitis, and has still managed to grow, develop and thrive, much to his parents (and our) delight. He is currently in remission and will soon be receiving the remainder of his treatment as an outpatient. Caring for Elliot involves our combining our expertise in leukemia with his parent’s expertise in Elliot. Together we hope to be able to see him continue to growth, thrive and develop for many, many years to come.
